Onboard audio might finally stop being hated by audiophiles

Nowadays, pretty much every motherboard and consumer electronics device has integrated sound generation capabilities, but they don't always perform as well as some may like.

Sound may be choppy, volume might be limited, the bass might not be heard well, overall clarity can be second-rate, etc.

Integrated audio chips in regular mainboards are particularly famous for this, so to speak, at least among multimedia lovers that want the best of the best.

ASRock doesn't think PCs should depend on add-in sound cards though, which is why it invented the Purity Sound technology.

Purity Sound will be featured on ASRock's 8-series motherboards and combines 7.1 CH HD audio with Realtek ALC1150 audio codec that supports 115dB SNR DAC.

Purity Sound has also integrated a pair of TI NE5532 amplifiers, one of which is a Differential Amplifier, while the other one is a Premium Headset Amplifier (up to 600 ohm headphones).

EMI shielding (electromagnetic protection) and PCB isolate shielding are part of the offer as well, along with cap less Direct Drive technology and support for DTS Connect.

“When it comes to improving technology, ASRock never turns a blind eye to even the most trivial imperfections. Still not sure about whether audio quality matters? Try A-Style: Purity Sound. You won't have to take our word for it, listen for yourself and hear the difference,” ASRock writes in its press release.

Keep in mind that Purity Sound is only the newest asset that defines the A-Style mainboards.

This page on ASRock's official website contains all information on them. It's a microsite really, totally dedicated to the A-Style technologies.

At this time, only the Purity Sound technology is detailed. The other perks will be added over time, likely over the next four weeks.

Since Intel will release the Haswell CPUs in June, ASRock will have to launch its platforms by then as well, maybe earlier. As such, it shouldn't take too long for the microsite to be updated with everything.
