Cheap and good-looking

You have to admit that the LG KP152 clamshell is really quite simple, but also unbelievably appealing. Though it is not clear what happened when this phone was designed or when it was manufactured for the first time, it sure makes you feel good having it. All these feelings are triggered by its charming lines and elegance but, most of all, because of the money factor, as it costs only $100.

Sure, its features and capabilities are more than weak, for it's a tri-band GSM/GPRS radio on board phone, with a VGA camera, a TFT display with 65k colors and a 800 mAh Li-Ion battery. So if you're looking for the latest in technology, no way you'll ever buy this, but still, something makes you remember it. And you can see why, by taking a closer look at the design details: it measures 88x47x17.3mm and weighs only 80g.

It's rather uncertain what amazes the most – the low price or the way these measurements have been combined; regardless, this is good engineering. LG KP152 is rumored to be the first in a long line of such phones, meant to "conquer emerging markets" with cheaper and simpler devices, and this approach seems to be the result of a survival plan designed by the company in order to make it through the dark financial world crisis.

Unfortunately, this phone is available only in Brazil for the moment, but it is soon to arrive in Europe as well, probably in Russia at first, and it will most likely sport two colors: red and black.

LG KP152 comes with strong recommendations also, as there is nothing to lose after spending $100 on a phone that will make at least a pretty good impression.
