It looks like this year's summer starts with heavy gear, much to the joy and happiness of sound and audio editors. The newest thing in the industry is dedicated to Digidesign's ProToolsHD software and this time it looks like most serious stuff.

Terra Digital Audio has just released their second product in the world of DAW computers in the body of the new MX2 series. The MX2s sport Quad core processors (we're speaking here about two dual-core Xeons), ATI Radeon X1300 PCI-e 256MB graphics board with dual monitor support, a 320GB HDD, 6-channel AC97 audio card, 2 FireWire connectors and no less than 8 USB.

The MX2 from Terra Digital Audi was engineered for both worlds: for the quiet studios - a desktop model (the MX2-T) and for the loud stage - the rack-mounting version, the MX2-T. Wherever you might need serious processing power, the MX2 (in any flavor) will be there for you.

The MX2 series comes with a very nifty feature, namely an especially-configured Windows XP Professional SP2, set for complete compatibility with the standards and routines of the Digidesign ProTools HD software DAW about which Terra Digital Audio claims it will run up to 150% faster and be capable of doubling the number of usable plugins.

The MX2 series can hold up to 32GB of DDR II RAM (4GB included) and the processors have a lot of configurable speeds. This is the basic configuration but willing users can see the Terra Configurator and add faster processors, more RAM, additional displays or PCI cards, larger hard disks and so on).

These 2 models T and R will run quieter and cooler than most other PC's and will ship for a great price: $2.499.
