The Logitech Squeezebox Boom, the latest addition to the Logitech Network Players' family.

Logitech have just added a new member to their Squeezebox family in the body of the Boom network player. Announced yesterday, the Logitech Squeezebox Boom looks like one of the most promising tools of its kind, being quite able to blend in the ingredients for a solid commercial success: it comes bundled with a heavy load of handy features and a very stylish design, and it retails for a more than affordable price.

The Logitech Squeezebox Boom boasts an all-in-one design, in a compact shape and with no useless flurry stuff to make its use more difficult than it should. Perfect to be placed in almost any corner of your residence, the Logitech Squeezebox Boom can easily be installed in your bedroom or living room, as well as on your porch or in your kitchen: its design has a very neat and non-intrusive line which can integrate in any décor, no matter how retro or modern.

When it comes to the ease of use, the Logitech Squeezebox Boom is clearly oriented towards the new media and the future media environments; you don't need to attach supplementary speakers as it comes with a two-way stereo sound deployment array, running on dual 3/4" tweeters and 3" long-throw woofers, making sure you get a lively sonic response that will spread across larger rooms as well. Fed by a 30W digital bi-amplifier, this sound array can be used in pretty much any environment, and it looks like it will sound pretty cool even outdoors, in your backyard; and of course, the Logitech Squeezebox Boom can be easily expanded by adding a subwoofer or used in private with the help of a 3.5mm headphone jack.

If you are a fan of Internet radio, the Logitech Squeezebox Boom is the perfect tool for you: just hook your Boom to the existing local network (via dual antennae with true 802.11g wireless technology) and start enjoying the huge media content in the Logitech SqueezeNetwork pre-aggregated for your convenience. And yes, the Boom will automatically search for the local wireless networks so you won't have to do the manual settings; just enter a password and the Logitech Squeezebox Boom will remember it for you!

The Logitech Squeezebox Boom can be used in parallel with other Squeezebox units for a rich and comprising multi-room media array; it also boasts 6 preset buttons letting you instantly access your fav radio stations, tracks or playlist. The Boom also comes with a magnetic remote control that can be easily "stuck" to your refrigerator while in the kitchen and it can also be used as an alarm clock.

The suggested retail price is a cent short of $300, making it a really affordable piece of technology; hunt it down in stores starting with early September!
