There were few mobile phones combining GSM and VoIP (voice over IP) technology up to now.

But a new hybrid phone will be launched by a company well known as a tires producer - Pirelli Group.

DP-L10 combines GSM tri-band capabilities with SIP-based VoIP via an integrated WLAN 802.11g interface, combining cell phone technology with the added advantage of transporting phone calls over the Internet.

This model acts as dual phone: a tri-band mobile phone and a broadband cordless one. The Dual Phone enables mobile phone features such as Internet browsing, e-mail, SMS, and MMS, which can also be used through a fixed-broadband connection, providing the same mobile services with the added benefits of greater bandwidth and cost savings.

DP-L10 will have a 65K colors screen, 0.3 megapixels build-in camera and will be announced on 16-18 May this year in Stockholm.
