Mini-systems with maxi features

We're glad to introduce to you the latest addition to Onkyo's family of high-class mini-systems, the FR-N9FX. This compact piece of Hi-Fi audio technology built on the acclaimed heritage of all Onkyo systems is a perfect tool for those who are looking for uncompromisable acoustics and impeccable workmanship packed in a small package that can go virtually anywhere. The Onkyo FR-N9FX can also be a very special present for someone who can appreciate great audio equipment.

One of the strong cards of the Onkyo FR-N9FX is the fact that you can access your music from more sources, namely your MDs. While almost every other players in the same class would miss the MDs, the Onkyo FR-N9FX sports this nifty feature and expands your musical possibilities.

Like many similar devices from Onkyo, the new member of the FR family comes with a front-side USB port that brings digital music even closer to you. Not only can you plug your USB thumbdrive in this port and play back the music files stored there in MP3 or WMA format, but you can also use the same USB key to rip the content of the audio CDs and MDs, and even record radio.

The Onkyo FR-N9FX comes with an FM tuner to keep you connected to your fav radio stations and news, and several other items can be added to form a miniature audio rack: a cassette tape recorder (yes, they still have these), and the ubiquitous iPod dock. On the audio side, we must also mention that this small-size system can deliver a 2 x 26W RMS power output, and this is more than enough for a small or a medium room.

Additional features comprise an optical digital output, very intuitive operation, and a generous dot matrix display for all the essential data. Unfortunately, we have no word on pricing or on the date when the Onkyo FR-N9FX will be made available on the American market, since it has been announced for Japan only, so far.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
