The main piece of content of the week has been our review of Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, the military simulation created by Codemasters in house, a direct rival of ArmA 2. But you can also check out the EndWeekGame feature, a Weekend Reading piece about Xbox Live and PlayStation Network and the other headlines below.

On Monday, Codemasters offered a reason for the delay of Colin McRae: DiRT 2 in the form of the graphical realism it would have when launched with DirectX 11 support, which also requires Windows 7. Also, my colleague Florian talked about his experience with boss fights in the new Risen.

On Tuesday, we found out that Blizzard was influenced by other strategy titles, like Dawn of War II, in its design process for Starcraft II, which is set to arrive in early 2010 and DICE hoped to attract some players to the upcoming Battlefield Bad Company 2 by saying that it supports dedicated servers unlike Modern Warfare 2.

On Wednesday, we took a brief stroll through the Badlands of new RPG/shooter Borderlands and found out about how BioWare plans to inject history for all characters that can be shared with other players through an EA account for Dragon Age: Origins.

Thursday was about reactions. Nintendo reacted to rumors by showing off the DSi with a bigger screen, named the LL, while Activision reacted to a leak by talking about how terrorism would be portrayed in Modern Warfare 2.

On Friday, we talked about how Epic Mickey, the Warren Spector remaining of classic cartoon characters, might use the Nintendo Vitality Sensor, and we also have a game diary related to Borderlands.
