That’s what General Robert Cone said in an Army Aviation Symposium

The way people see the military can vary, with some idolizing soldiers and others shunning the whole idea of serving as part of the corps. Well, the latter group may have cause to rejoice now.

During an Army Aviation symposium, General Robert Cone said that the Brigade Combat Team could be reduced from 4,000 to 3,000 by 2040.

The “missing” men and/or women would be replaced by robots and drones by then. I imagine the mechanical contraptions will be used for scouting and armed backup, maybe.

On that logic, the military as a whole may replace flesh-and-blood humans with robots.

Specialized hardware is a boon anywhere, and the reduced risk of losing human lives appeals too. Let’s just hope films like Terminator won’t be coming true.

Cone says some breakthroughs in technology and science need to be made first though, and those will happen between 20130 and 2040 in his opinion.
