Once again, a storage solution developer has come up with a new device that integrates the newest and fastest variation of the universal serial bus interface.

For those that do not yet know or need a reminder, the most recent and fastest iteration of the USB standard is known as SuperSpeed USB 3.0.

It allows USB-connected devices to reach a theoretical maximum transfer speed of about 5 Gbps, and this means a ten times increase in performance over USB 2.0 ports. Which worked at a maximum of 480 Mbps.

Because of this massive boost in performance, makers of both motherboards and external storage devices have made a point of integrating the technology.

One of the newest such developments was the creation of a new member for A-Data's Superior series of flash drive units.

The newcomer bears the name of Superior Series S102 and boasts a native USB 3.0 controller chip which lets it read data at up to 68 MB/s and write it at 30 MB/s.

The product measures 71.8 (L) x 18.6 (W) x 10.6 (H) mm and boasts an aluminum casing with a titanium grey coating.

It weighs a total of just 15 grams and was made to come in multiple capacities, three to be exact, those being 8 GB, 16 GB and 32 GB, respectively.

“The new USB 3.0 standard interface is picking up speed among users and manufacturers. ADATA is listening to the requests of early adapters, who are eager to see this new standard incorporated into a wide range of products,” states the press release.

“This launch of the S102 USB 3.0 flash drive, which uses the native USB 3.0 controller chip, is A-DATA’s competitively priced entry into this relatively new market segment.”

Unfortunately, the prices of the S102 have not been revealed yet.
