SH02 portable HDD boasts IMF technology

There have been a variety of portable storage solution releases over the past few months but most of them have been doing their best to be as universally compatible and usable as possible. Now, however, A-DATA seems to be going in a different direction with its SH02. Built with a special casing and design technologies, the 2.5-inch HDD means to become “an in-style digital accessory for the fashionistas.”

The SH02 has a capacity of up to 500GB, more than enough for a large number of multimedia or other files, and uses the USB 2.0 interface to communicate with any PC. Performance is not the main asset of this product, however. Instead, A-DATA focused on adding aesthetic value, which is why it was especially careful to implement the In-Mold Foil (IMF) technology when it crafted the enclosure. This gives the HDD a unique feel when held in hand, not just good looks. Of course, the special enclosure design is also practical, conferring scratch, fingerprint and abrasion resistance upon the product.

"We search for any possibility of applying new technology and combine with the latest design elements and details to come up with innovative storage products that differentiate ours from other competitors," said C.K. Hung, Vice President of A-DATA Technology Product Planning Group. "SH02 is a perfect example of combining new surface finishing technology with a designer look, creating a practical yet trendy portable HDD to the market."

Owners of the compact and lightweight A-DATA SH02 will be pleased to know that they can download value-add software without registration, including a 60-day trial of Norton Internet Security, HDDtoGO and OstoGO. Furthermore, the storage unit will be available in pink, black and white versions, “each with its own unique design that glitters with sophistication.” Unfortunately, besides the three-year warranty, exact pricing and availability details have not been disclosed.
