Flash-based memory cards have become extremely popular over the past few years, as they provide very large data storage capacities in extremely small and portable form factors. And that seems to be exactly the case with A-DATA's latest offering, a trio of memory cards that provide huge storage spaces, even according to today's high standards.

Thus, the company has just announced the release of three new models, namely the 16GB Turbo SDHC Class 6, 8GB Super SDHC Duo and 32GB Speedy CompactFlash, all of them targeting those consumers who also purchase high-end imaging devices, including here camcorders, digital cameras, PDAs, etc, thus requiring quite a lot of storage space for the high-resolution photos or video clips.

According to the company, the main reason behind the development of these new memory cards is represented by the technological leaps ahead in imaging technology foreseeable for the near future. Thus, since some of the most important digital camera manufacturers, as for example Canon, Nikon and Panasonic, have already shipped or announced a variety of pro-level digital still cameras that have seven or eight megapixels, with ten megapixels to follow soon enough, A-DATA has decided to be ahead of the competition and practically doubled the capacity of its memory cards, including here the SD and CF formats (the most popular among digital camera users).

Thus, as mentioned earlier, the company upgraded its Turbo series with a 16 GB SDHC model, which can attain a maximum data transfer rate of around 6 MB/s (Class 6 device). Moreover, they've also introed a mode "modest" 8GB SDHC Duo model in their Super series (Class 4 device, maximum data transfer rate of around 4 MB/s), as well as a normal CompactFlash version with a whopping storage space of 32 GB.

Although these new offerings from A-DATA look pretty appealing, there's no word on either pricing or availability, which means that we'll just have to sit tight and wait for these storage "monsters" to hit the shelves.
