The StorageWorks XP 12000 Disk Array still works perfectly

As you may already know, HOP has already launched its new server - the HP StorageWorks XP12000 Disk Array - which is said to be bullet proof. Everybody laughed at the idea of making a bullet proof server and also doubted the 'ability' of HP's latest product.

It appears that the guys from HP got mad and decided to put on test their server. Therefore, imagine a laboratory, based in Camden, Arkansas, featuring inside HP's server working as it should be and a man holding a gun towards 'the frightened server'.

It is real, so real that the gun was in fact a .308-caliber bullet traveling at 2,900 feet per second starting at a 40 feet distance from the XP12000 Disk Array. The test was named 'HP Certified Engineer' and it went more than smooth, but scary. The engineers hooked the server to a huge computer and placed an aquarium near the computer. The result? the fish are all dead and buried, but the server still works overtime. If you want to see how it went, visit Mobilewhack and watch the video.

However, HP is not 'in high spirits', as it has recently announced that it intends to initiate a four year plan in order to diminish real estate costs by fusing numerous business locations worldwide to fewer core sites. This project is the effect of the restructuring announcement made on July 19, 2005, when HP's representatives said that the company's infrastructure will be modified in order to cut costs.

"To reduce costs, HP expects to consolidate real estate holdings into core sites in key locations around the world, relinquish floor space within certain leased buildings and close certain sites or floors in buildings that it owns," said HP representatives.
