A 911 operator in Arizona has responded to a man's call by starting to giggle. The caller was describing how his girlfriend caught on fire.

Lalo Delgado was driving to Chiva Falls with his girlfriend when they started experiencing troubles with their vehicle.

Delgado, of Tucson, called 911 when the accident prompted burns on his girlfriend. She had literally caught on flames.

He was met with laughter by the operator. He confronted the woman and she explained that her amusement was not related to his ordeal. At that point, the couple was stuck by the side of the road, with no cars passing by.

Officials at the Pima County Sheriff's Department are not amused and they are investigating the incident, KGUN-TV reports.

Capt. Jim Berry has confirmed that the department is at fault for mistreating the caller.

"We're going to correct that. Certainly I can understand why he was upset. I would be too," he says.
