People don't seem to understand what a 911 emergency is actually about

Adding on the list of weird 911 calls, a woman from Massachusetts requested emergency services to assist her with a push around the mall in order to finish her shopping. The woman borrowed a wheelchair from the Northshore mall and demanded a push to the Apple store.

Zemenay D. Auditore accused a leg injury while parading the mall, took a wheelchair and asked mall security to take her to the Apple store and then to her car. After the nice security guards helped the 35-year-old, she demanded to be taken back to the electronics store just visited, but the guards insisted they are too busy to push her wheelchair around the mall as she pleases.

The dissatisfied 35-year-old called 911 “requesting PPD units [to] push her around the mall so she can shop,” according to the police log. Salem News notes that the official log also said that police officers went and spoke to the woman “about the proper use for 911 and the consequences of calling it again for frivolous issues.”

Auditore didn't seem to understand the message and contacted the authorities again, this time asking for a “EMS unit for transport.” Her ambulance request led to officers taking the out-of-control woman into custody to avoid any other requests of that kind.

It may appear as if some people really don't understand the meaning of an emergency call or their perception of an urgency is really confusing. Police arrested another woman in November after dialing 911 six times to report a bar full of drunk people. The slightly paranoid lady demanded officers to come and arrest everyone who was consuming alcohol in the establishment.

If this wasn't enough, a man decided to barricade himself in his home with a gun and call 911 to deliver him alcohol and snacks. When the operators denied his request, the drunk man called again and threatened that if his requests were not met, he would use the gun to hurt himself or others around him. Police officers came, but the man refused to exit the house, so the cops waited until the man fell asleep and the entered the home and arrested him.
