Coming to offer a storage solution that will cover the gap between 60 GB and 120 GB capacities, Corsair has developed two new solid state drives for the Force series, with 90 GB.

Corsair already has 60 GB, cost-accessible units, as well as more expensive 120 GB models, as part of the Force series.

Still, one might say that the capacity leap between the two leaves much to be desired from those that want to take more of a middle ground.

Corsair has now addressed such needs by releasing the 90 GB Force SSD members for the Force GT and Force Series 3, which utilize the latest SATA interface, as expected.

They are both still aimed at enthusiasts, of course (being part of the Force line practically guarantees this), with data rates of up to 555 MB/s when reading and 505 MB/s when writing.

The Force Series 3 utilizes asynchronous flash memory “to provide the industry’s best 90GB SSD performance value,” while the Force GT boasts ONFI synchronous flash memory.

"We are happy to add the world’s first 90GB SSD to our product lineup,” said Thi La, vice president of memory products at Corsair.

“With 50% more storage capacity than our 60GB models and at pricing significantly lower than our 120GB models, they help make the Force Series 3 and Force Series GT among the most robust and flexible SSD lines on the market."

Users may remember that the Corsair Force GT and Force 3 suffered form some stability issues for a time after their release.

Fortunately, that issue has since been corrected with a firmware update, meaning that prospective buyers needn't worry overmuch over the question of whether or not these SandForce-run products will deliver on their performance and reliability promises.

Sales should already be underway, for the price of $159.
