Said to deliver approximately 10 hours of battery life

Some time ago, rumors of a 9-cell battery specifically designed to power MSI's Wind netbook surfaced on the Internet. It now appears that such a battery option is available from third-party sellers on eBay, and MSI Wind users have already started to upgrade the battery of their netbook. Moreover, it looks like many have also posted the performance level achieved by the new battery, making other Wind users seriously consider a potential upgrade.

As previous rumors also had it, the 9-cell battery option for MSI's netbook system will have a visible impact on the netbook's overall design. That is because of its size, which can actually allow for the 9-cell battery to be used as a netbook stand. However, whether this can be considered an improvement as an actual feature is rather debatable. Still, the main purpose of the 9-cell battery, of increasing the time a user can work on the MSI Wind, has been achieved accordingly.

As per several posters on a forum dedicated to users of MSI's Wind netbook, the 9-cell battery can deliver an impressive 7.5 hours of battery life. Considering that a 3-cell battery is only good for about two hours, while the 6-cell is said to double that, the 9-cell battery appears as the obvious choice for someone that needs the Wind to run for as much time as possible. With a price tag that currently settles at £51.99, the 9-cell battery option could be a nice addition to most Wind netbooks out there.

Also, the option enables the Wind to get closer to the specifications of the battery on the new Samsung NC10, which is said to deliver approximately 7 hours of life from a 6-cell pack. In addition to all this, it’s not only the specifically branded Wind netbook that can take advantage of this battery pack, but also most (if not all) Wind clones out there.
