14 DAY TRIAL // There is something to say about most memory modules: they are all the same across the board, no matter the manufacturer or the brand. Sometimes, though, an uncanny offer is made, like now.
ADATA Technology Co., Ltd., a supplier of NAND Flash and dynamic random access memory products worldwide, has introduced the Gaming v2.0 Series DDR3-2600 MHz DRAM 8GB modules.
That alone should be enough to clarify why we say this is a particularly uncanny offer: not only do the modules have a high capacity, they are very fast too.
For the sake of comparison, common RAM, in laptops and desktops alike, works at 1333 MHz or 1600 MHz, sometimes at 1,800 or so. Even the high-end gaming kits usually stay at 2,000.
It shouldn't matter what type of motherboard a system has, but ADATA's press release says Intel Core processors on Z77 platforms will exploit its new memory best.
The DRAM does have XMP ver. 1.3 (Extreme Memory Profile), so that makes sense.
Another asset is the Thermal Conductive Technology (TCT)/2oz Copper 8-layer PCB, which allows the chips to work at their best without generating too much heat for the heatspreader to handle.
Other features include a screw-lock mechanism (improves cooling efficiency for long-term use), a limited lifetime warranty, and RoHS compliance (means it is made with minimum quantities of hazardous substances).
“XPG DRAM modules signify Xtreme Performance Gear, providing the extreme speed and performance required by advanced users,” ADATA said in its announcement.
Keep in mind that DDR3-2600 MHz is only the top frequency (not counting overclocking sessions involving LN2). Most computers won't have a cause to push them all the way, although hardcore gaming rigs probably will, especially if they are used in multi-monitor configurations and have more than one program running at once (a game, a music player, a messaging service, maybe a web browser even).
