Mac Pro with 8-core processing power emerged on Apple's website

Waw, 8-core? Are you kidding? Yes! Apple was just kidding. After the surprise appearance took place, Apple quickly corrected the error, leaving us all with just a rumor that doesn't even stand anymore. Still, there is a screenshot left!

Not to say Apple won't be releasing the 8-cored beast, we'll soon get to see it, perhaps someday this year, but this surely was not the day.

The UK online Apple Store listing reads "Now quad-core and 8-core processing power," however, if you click on the link it takes you to the standard Quad core web-page. Users reportedly came across this listing when searching for 'MacPro'.

I should say it would be simply wrong to announce the powerful, byte-eating beast through a website content mistake. The team at Apple should be more careful.

A thought just crossed my mind. Since this summer will be packed with Apple launches, why not launch then the 8-core Mac Pro? What better compliment to the new, much improved (we'll have to see about that, but still) Leopard, than an 8-cored Intel machine? Could it be that the Cupertino-based company is planning a May Mac Pro launch? I wouldn't be surprised.

Quad-core Intel chips have been available for quite some time now and innovative, skillful, power-obsessed minds even managed to integrate them on a Mac Pro by replacing the Pro's stock Dual Core Xeons with Intel's new Quad Core Xeon X5355. There is a tutorial explaining that as well.

I must admit I can't see why people are so looking forward to the 8-core machine. It's not like they'll get to actually use them. Still, let's not undermine the thrill of having 8 cores within grasp. For now, this was just a rumor, but we'll surely keep you posted on the matter.
