Featuring a triple connection interface

Trying to provide users with a high-capacity storage solution that is available in a portable form factor, OWC has recently launched a new portable hard drive, part of the company's growing line of notebook drive products. The new solution has been designed to offer users as much as 750GB of on-the-go storage space, combined with a significant number of connectivity options. The new drive will be available as part of the company's Bus-powered On-The-Go Pro models, providing users with an ultraportable, high-capacity storage solution.

According to the technical specifications of the new, high-capacity drives, users will be faced with 2.5-inch drives that spin at 5,200RPM, coupled with 8MB of cache. This provides for a low-power, energy-efficient storage solution that can be connected to a computer system through a number of connectivity options. The Mercury On-The-Go Pro drive is available with a triple connectivity interface, including FireWire 800/400 and USB 2.0, but the drive is also available in a combo FireWire 400+ USB 2.0 option, as well as a standard, simple USB 2.0 model.

In addition, the drives are featured with a fanless design for the enclosures and are Bus-powered, but there's also an option for an AC adapter. To sweeten the offer, the drive is bundled with a number of software applications, including Carbon Copy Cloner, ProSoft Engineering Data Backup 3, NovaStor NovaBACKUP, and Intech SpeedTools Utilities. According to the company, the new drives are compatible with the latest Snow Leopard operating system and are suitable for audio/video applications.

Boasting the triple interface mentioned above, the 750GB Mercury On-The-Go Pro external drive is available for a price tag of US$270. With dual and simple USB 2.0 connectivity, the drive comes at a price of US$250 and US$230, directly from the the company's website.
