This picture was taken in the 1930s, in Brazil, and magazine Het Leven published it at the time. The boy in the shot was supposedly found in the Amazonian jungle.

He has been referred to as the “apeman” due to the form of his jaw and nose. He looks clean shaved and his hair is cut neatly, but he could have been styled for the shot.

After this picture was posted on Reddit, many users have dubbed it a fake, claiming the deformed man is in fact wearing a prosthesis and make-up, pointing out that his hair is in his face, hiding his forehead, where the prosthesis would be most visible.

According to the Daily Mail, the magazine that published the picture in 1937 presented the man as an abomination of nature, half man, half ape.
