Another record for largest alligator caught in Mississippi stands to be awarded by Guinness. A giant gator has been caught on the Mississippi River, one week after the previous record title was awarded.

Jimmy Greer, John Ratcliff and Jennifer Ratcliff brought a 741-pound (336-kg) alligator to shore during a midnight expedition.

This is also the longest gator ever caught in Mississippi, at 13 feet and 6.5 inches (4.1 meters).

According to a report on the gator record by News Oxy, the group worked for half an hour and needed an excavator to carry it out of the river.

“He broke three lines, and I had the only hook that stayed in him the whole time. [...] Even with these two guys, it was very hard, and we were worn out,” he describes taking the alligator onto a boat.
