Given the fact that USB 3.0 is heading towards mainstream status at light speed, we're seeing plenty of new products equipped with this ultra-fast interface arrive on the market, the latest we've come across being a new series of flash drives from Buffalo, that combine very high data transfer rates with large storage capabilities.

As some of you will certainly remember, we've already had a chance to test an USB 3.0 flash drive (coming from Kingston, though) and found it to be really, really fast, when used both with USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 interfaces, when used with the type of files we use the most on a daily basis, such as documents, videos, photos, etc.

For this reason, we're quite sure that the transition to USB 3.0 will be a relatively swift process, the technology become a widespread standard in just a few years' time, and the fact that the new drives from Buffalo have joined the market at a relatively early stage might certainly play to their advantage.

Now, coming back to the new storage solutions from Buffalo, its' important to know that they couple the very high speeds (at least theoretical ones) enabled by the SuperSpeed interface (up to 5 Gbps) with plenty of storage space to go around, 8, 16, 32 and 64GB versions being available.

Furthermore, similar to other such storage solutions available on the market, the drives from Buffalo come pre-loaded with various software applications, the most important being used for accelerating even further the transfer speeds (especially as far as large-size files are concerned) and for password-protecting the data stored within.

Unfortunately, Buffalo has not provide any pricing details for its brand-new USB 3.0 Flash Drives, but it's very likely that this important piece of information will become available in mid-December, when the new SuperSpeed series of flash drives is set to be officially released in Japan.
