Fans are getting their hopes high

One of the biggest issues with today's netbooks is related to their battery lifetime. This mostly happens because netbooks equipped with a 3-cell battery can only provide users with about 2 to 3 hours of battery life, which isn't all that much when you are looking for a truly high on portability computer system. However, this issue can be easily solved with a 6-cell battery, granted that the manufacturer of the netbook can offer such a choice.

As most of you already know by now, ASUS is currently the leading manufacturer on this segment of the market, its offer including a vast range of Eee PCs meant to offer a wide number of choices to almost every netbook fan out there. One of the reasons for being so successful can be found in that the customers can opt for either a 3-cell or a 6-cell equipped Eee PC. While fans of the MSI Wind fans might seem a bit like left out in the cold, things could change anytime soon, as they too will get their 6-cell battery upgrade, according to a company listing, that states that three new models will be made available in August.

In all fairness, MSI Wind fans have had to wait quite some time before the Taiwanese manufacturer finally offered them a choice for a better battery life. As some of you already know, the MSI Wind battery upgrade was delayed several times, right after the company first released the netbook. At the beginning of last month, after yet another such a delay was announced, the company listed the availability of the Atom-powered netbooks, equipped with a 2.6 lbs 6-cell battery, for August.

Now that August is here and no announcement of another delay has yet been made public, we should probably see soon a number of 6-cell based Wind netbooks up for sale at various retailers. Until that happens, fans are getting their hopes high that MSI will not postpone (again) the battery upgrade for later this year.

Currently, the vendor offers Wind netbook in three different chassis colors, including white, black and pink.
