The display is still more expensive than some larger 4K LCDs

LG launched its 55-inch OLED TV back in 2013, but few people actually bought it because of its price of $15,000 / €15,000. Now, the price is less than half of that.

Granted, you’ll have to pay $8,000 and get an instant $1,000 rebate, but in the end you can still get away with paying “just” $7,000 / €7,000.

It’s still more than what some LCDs with 4K resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels), but OLED tech has always been pricier.

Granted, the price hasn’t suddenly been cut in half. LG reduced it from $15,000 / €15,000 to $10,000 / €10,000 late last year, so the reduction this time is just of another $3,000 / €3,000.

Still, it’s a lot of money regardless, and there’s nothing like a sharp contrast between the initial and the present price to provide perspective.
