T-amp power

Being able to provide serious audio power with devices you can easily carry in your chest pocket was nothing but a dream some years ago, but these days, thanks to the constant evolution of the audio technology, one can get a party going without hauling in heavy amplifiers carried by two people at the same time. All you need is a T-amplifier and the loudspeakers and you'll be ready to drive the neighbors crazy; and in case things get serious, just grab your amp and run to safety.

Class T amplifiers are the newest trend in audio and this technology seems to gain more and more ground, especially in applications where the available space does not allow large amps to be installed.

The miniaturization of these amps was possible by taking the Class D technology to the next level, and running the devices with enhanced efficiency. That's how you can now enjoy an amplifier roughly the size of a cigarette pack capable to blast as much as 50W, sporting pretty much the same assertiveness and clarity emanating from tube amps. And you also get to live without replacing tubes, without their heavy weight and with no heating issues, of course.

This miniature amp can drive a 2 channel sound system, blasting as much as max 20 W per speaker, while bridging the outputs will get you a whopping 50W power rating for a single speaker. Strongly belying its appearance, this small pocket amplifier sports pretty much the same tech specs like its bigger and heavier counterparts: 115dB signal to noise ratio, a total harmonics distortion under 0.05% and frequency response ranging between 1 Hz and 75 kHz.

While some T-class amps can be powered, this particular one is fed by a supplied wall-adapter and the whole package retails for an unbelievable price just under the $70 mark.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
