Come January 31, 2010, the music industry will celebrate its most accomplished and successful artists for the year 2009, but rapper 50 Cent will not partake in the Grammy Awards ceremony. Not only will he not attend, having not been nominated at this edition, but he’ll also do his best to enlighten audiences as to how things really stand with the ceremony, as ContactMusic can confirm.

To be more specific, Fiddy wants people to know that, while the Recording Academy claims to hand the awards to those who truly deserve it, based on well established and objective criteria, the entire show is bought by record labels. In other words, labels who give the most money for the ceremony buy a trophy for the artist they have signed. This year, that will mean Beyonce and Taylor Swift, 50 Cent says.

“Man, [expletive] the Grammys!” the rapper said in a recent interview with MTV cited by ContactMusic. “I couldn’t care less about the Grammy Awards. It’ll be the Beyonce and Taylor Swift show. I guess they’ll both be performing at the awards show, which means their record companies will be spending money to raise the production values of the entire show. And when you spend that kind of money you’re supposed to get trophies,” he adds.

Because of this recent statement, many have started talking about how he’s feeling bitter again for being overlooked at the most prestigious awards ceremony the music industry has. 50 Cent has a total of 13 nominations at the Grammys throughout the years but, ironically enough, he can’t boast of a single win. To add insult to injury, this year he didn’t even get a nomination, so this could explain why he’s now saying that the entire gala is bought in advance by record companies that are seeing to their own interests, it has been suggested.

“The ‘In da Club’ hitmaker previously expressed his distaste for the Grammys at the 2004 ceremony when he stormed the stage after losing out on the Best New Artist award to Evanescence,” ContactMusic further says.
