A two-vehicle crash has left five teenagers dead and a tractor-trailer driver in serious condition near Dumas, Texas.

According to Amarillo Globe News, the Department of Public Safety has identified the victims, two of which, Jacob Paul Stipe, 16 and Christopher Lee Moore, 17, were residents of Sunray.

October Dawn Roys, 17, and Elizabeth Kay Roys, 15, lived in Dumas while Derrek Lee Hager, 17, lived in Stratford.

The five victims were friends, and October Dawn and Elizabeth Kay Roys were sisters. They were in a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze at the time of the crash, and the vehicle was driven by Stipe.

At approximately 3:40 p.m. on Sunday, March 10 they ran a red light at the intersection of Morton Elevator Road and Farm-to-Market Road 1284.

A 2012 Volvo truck, coming in on the FM 1284, slammed right into the Cruze's passenger side. The incident occurred some 4 miles (6.5 km) from the town of Dumas.

The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal details that the five teens were severely hurt and all were pronounced dead at the scene.

The tractor-trailer driver has been identified as Ezequiel Garcia of Amarillo. He is currently recovering with severe burns and life-threatening injuries.

According to staff at University Medical Center in Lubbock, his condition is critical. The Examiner adds that Garcia was driving a fuel tanker truck.

Also on Sunday, an SUV vehicle carrying eight teenagers in Ohio was driven off the road in a dangerous spot known as the "Dead Man's Curve."

Six out of the eight teens were instantly killed as the SUV crashed into a guardrail, flipped over and landed in a swamp. The accident took place near Warren, as we chronicled at the time.

A report from yesterday revealed that the high-school students had stolen the Honda Passport from Youngstown resident Marguis Stephenson.
