Starting with the 5th of August, and up until the 10th of the same month, the city of Portland, Oregon, will house a meeting organized by the Ecological Society of America in order to discuss current threats to our remaining ecosystems and potential solutions to the problems identified.

Entitled “Life on Earth: Preserving, Utilizing and Sustaining out Ecosystems,” this year's conference will address issues such as the effects of climate change on our planet's bird population, the links between extreme weather manifestations and the ever increasing number of wildfires in the US, and how various migratory animal species find themselves negatively affected by global warming.

As well as this, the people present at this meeting will try and determine what the best ways to make the most of the natural resources we have at our disposal are, the end goal being that of shedding new light on sustainable development and the methods through which it can be achieved.

Hopefully, once this conference is over, the new pieces of information made available during it will help us safeguard our natural world more efficiently.
