Hopefully this is the last time we have to cite claims that the iPhone 3G has been confirmed for release on a specific date. However, this is the first time we don't have to take the rumors with a grain of salt, given that "someone very, very close to the 3G iPhone launch" has told tech-based website Gizmodo.com "that Apple will announce their new model at the WWDC Keynote on June 9th."

The publication confidently notes that the new batch of iPhones will be available for purchase as soon as Apple opens its mouth about it. "The new model will also herald new sales policies in some countries", the source claims.

The tech-based website gives some examples. For instance, Spain will be getting the much desired device at the June 18th grand opening of Telefonica's megastore. Said to be similar to Apple's, the store is located in the company's historical building in Madrid's Gran V?a, the website cites. The rest of the European countries lined up for the new iPhone will have similar launch schedules, the source claims.

However, citing another reliable source, Gizmodo reveals that the 3G iPhone will not retail for a fixed price point ("at least in some countries", the publication notes) while the launch will also mark the introduction of new sales policies, which aren't quite clear for the time being.

The 3G iPhone has long been rumored to arrive this summer, while everyone put their money on an unveiling at Apple's WWDC (World Wide Developer Conference). As it turns out, Apple will (allegedly) announce its new-gen iPhone at the prestigious event, which by the way, has sold out for the first time in history.

The new iPhone will bring a host of new features, one of which is the highly anticipated App Store, confirmed by Apple CEO Steve Jobs himself at the iPhone Software Roadmap event on March 6.
