Food has always been something that 3D printing experts thought was a worthwhile field of expansion, and 3D Systems is doing precisely that at this year's edition of the Consumer Electronics Show.

CES 2014 is taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada, and will be open today and tomorrow, so if you're in the neighborhood, you might just sample a few of the things at 3D Systems' booth.

And we do mean sample. The company has a food 3D printer there, a printer that can make sugar sculptures, in single or even multiple colors.

In fact, full-color objects can be made, on the ChefJet Pro 3D anyway. The ChefJet 3D is for the chefs that don't have much money to invest in something like this.

The 3D Systems ChefJet 3D printers come with a digital cookbook and cost under $5,000 / €5,000, or will cost once they start selling later this year.
