You wanted painted fingernails, you have them

Prosthetic hands, prosthetics in general really, usually put emphasis on functionality and leave aesthetics as a distant second. Even expensive ones.

3D printing has made artificial limbs much cheaper than before, however, a thousand times cheaper in some cases. That means that aesthetics can take a seat closer to the front row now.

Knowing this, a man by the name of Andreas Bastian has designed the Paintable Raptor Reloaded Fingertips, which will give some color to the prosthetic hands of women worldwide.

The fingertips are basically designed to replace the standard digits of prosthetic hands and can be painted any color using regular nail polish.

Currently, there are digits only for the Raptor Hand, but since that is by far the most popular 3D printed hand in the world, Bastian chose well.

And if you paint the nail with a natural color, skin tone pigment, the prosthetic could become a source of interest for those nearby rather than a motive for restrained sympathy.

You can find the designs on github, and soon, they will be posted on Thingiverse and YouMagine as well.

This project is sure to add to the fame that Andreas Bastian enjoys in certain circles, as a member of e-NABLE.
