Ingestible pills are the most common way of providing the body with medicine. J Group Robotics knows this, which is why it hopes to make a name for itself by creating a process capable of 3D printing capsules for them.

J Group Robotics is the main 3D printing manufacturer in India, but it wants to extend its reach and do some good at the same time.

Their plan is to create a special filament and associated process that would revolutionize how drugs are created in the future.

They also intend to find ways to fill the capsules with liquid or powder medicine, preferably during the printing process itself. They'll be satisfied even if they have to settle for a post-print process though, as long as they invent a good one.

Success would mean much cheaper and faster production, making the medicine accessible to poor countries.

In fact, it should be possible for pharmacies to have 3D printers capable of creating drugs, eventually. It would let you go to the drug store with a prescription and have it 3D printed on command. It would allow drug stores to order the substances in bulk, further cutting down on costs.

There are some concerns about ensuring correct doses and the like, but fail-safes should be straightforward enough to implement in the printing software itself.
