If you want to stand out at a party, you don't need to look any further

Over the centuries, humanity has raked up many pieces of clothing and jewelry that make them stand out at a formal or informal gathering, so it's not such a shock to see 3D printing being used for the same thing.

After all, even though it's not too easy to come into the possession of a 3D printer, there are 3D printing services available, so you can place an order for anything if you have a virtual 3D model you like.

So here we are, beholding the nail art created by The Laser Girls, a collaboration by designers Sophie Kahn and Lucas Goossens.

And by nail art we mean the art of making fake fingernails, not nails used to hold furniture or buildings together.

These new nails will definitely add a whole new dimension of meaning to the terms “manicure” and, why not, “pedicure.”

Granted, it might be hard to find footwear and dresses or pants that would actually fit these unusual nails, but there's always a way for everything.

Laser Girls have set up a Shapeways shop where you can see and (soon) order the designs, which should all be listed on Instagram and Tumblr too.

They are very strange though, so if you're conservative about your looks, you might want to look elsewhere.

After all, some of these things look a lot like building blocks, or a hybrid between black alien claws and flowers. Others look like scales, or snakeskin.

And there are different color combinations too, so you can really go all out on the weird factor, although this also makes it easier to procure nails that would match your wardrobe.

Sophie Kahn and Lucas Goossens have recently managed to get their creations admitted into the Museum of Art and Design in New York, where they explained how they used 3D printing.
