Developer 343 Industries says that it wants the Halo series, which it is now in charge of, to appear on as many platforms as possible in order to always give fans a new experience linked to Master Chief that can be explored.

Mike Ellis, the lead designer of Halo: Spartan Assault, is quoted by The Official Xbox Magazine as saying that, "You can look through our portfolio now. We have games. We have books on the New York Times bestseller list. We have toys and things like Mega Blocks and McFarlane figures. Halo is bigger than any one game. We see it as an entire universe of experiences."

The developer wants Halo games to move from one platform to another as long as they maintain their core gameplay. The elements that can change are the control schemes and certain visual features that are better suited to one hardware setup or another.

Halo: Spartan Assault was first launched exclusively on tablets, but now, 343 Industries and Microsoft are also releasing it on the Xbox One home console, and versions for the PC and the Xbox 360 are also in development.

Ellis adds, "If you’re a casual gamer who’s never experienced playing on a console, you might be happier with the phone or tablet versions. A PC gamer would be more comfortable with a keyboard and mouse. Our console fans should be very happy with the controller."

The developer is very proud of the quality that Halo: Spartan Assault is delivering and he seems to be suggesting that the narrative is considered at the company as being part of the core lore of the franchise.

A mysterious Halo 5 project is at the moment in development for the Xbox One, but no details about it have been offered and the series will also make the jump to TV with a series directed by Steven Spielberg.
