14 DAY TRIAL // When he first started noticing that his hair was thinning out in his 20s and decided to see a specialist about it, Toby Sheldon from California had probably already made up his mind about whose look he wanted to emulate with the treatment: pop star Justin Bieber’s.
Five years, $100,000 (€73,104), and countless surgeries later, Toby believes he could easily pass for a Justin Bieber lookalike even though he’s much older than the star: he’s 33 years old and he tells the Daily Mail he’s happy when he’s turned away at the liquor store because people assume he’s underage.
Toby says his journey to becoming Bieber started with the hair transplant that was meant to get him the same hair as the star, also known as “The Bieber.” Once that out of the way, he just saw more room for “improvement.”
“Once Justin shot to fame his face was everywhere and I all I kept thinking when I saw his picture was, ‘I want to look like him’,” he says.
After the hair transplant, Toby just kept getting work done: he had fillers injected into his lips and face, he had lipo on his neck and the fat transferred to his face and hands, he had eyelid surgery and, most recently, he had what is known as the perma-smile surgery, where the corners of his mouth were turned upwards to get Bieber’s youthful smile.
“By using Justin’s charming baby face as my inspiration, I’ve been able to restructure my entire look to maintain a much more youthful appearance through plastic surgery,” he says.
He’s already had some trouble getting his eyelids done because no one would operate on him, assuming he had taken his obsession a step too far, but Toby says he’s not done yet.
“I know there is more work to be done in order to make a full transformation into Justin Bieber’s doppelganger like a nose job and jaw reduction, which my surgeon has suggested,” he tells the tab.
