Dell Servers - better than the HP or IBM ones

The new launched PowerEdge R300 and T300 servers designed by Dell for small and medium business achieve far more performance than those created by HP or IBM. There's a 31 percent increase in speed when comparing T300 with HP ML310 G5 server, and up to 51 percent increase in performance in comparison with IBM System X 3200. R300 outperforms HP's DL320 G5p with 26 percent better performance, and IBM System X 3250 is left behind with 51 percent.

Both servers are build with single socket quad-core Intel Xeon x5460 CPUs. Their performance allows companies better handling of applications that require high amounts of memory, as they both feature 24GB of memory (three times more that other servers from the same business line). Their redundant power supplies as well as the hot-plug hard drives are also designed to rise the performance, increase uptime and prevent loss of data access.

Not only that they give more speed and availability, but they are also energy effective. R300 may be considered the most energy efficient server, as it delivers the highest level of performance per watt compared to other servers. According to Reed Caldwell, founder and CEO of ServInt, R300 is the most ecologically responsible server. And he added: "No other platform we tested gives us the features, reliability, performance or expandability with such a low-voltage footprint".

There are also built-in security features available for these Dell servers. TPM (Trusted Platform Module) is designed to strengthen the security of the servers. It provides better authentication, protection and encryption of critical data. Data loss and security breaches are reduces through the Internal lock-down USB. Unauthorized access to system hard-drives and peripherals is prevented with the use of locking bezels and a chassis intrusion switch.

Until now, the performance of these new Dell servers has been available with systems created for large business, but the costs were significantly higher. R300 and T300 are designed to have industry-leading performance, and small and medium businesses do not need to sacrifice better performance for a low price anymore. The price for the R300 rack server starts at $1,249, while for the T300 tower server it starts at $999.

ProSupport, Dell's new services portfolio, helps customers to take their decisions in choosing information technology and support options, and also give them more flexibility. As customers are interested in purchasing faster, yet cheaper products, Dell comes to fulfill their needs. "We listened, and our new R300 and T300 servers deliver the kind of technology innovation our customers care about - more performance and reliability without more cost," said Frank Muehleman, vice president and general manager, Dell Small and Medium Business.
