With an ever-growing fanbase and more critical recognition with each day, it would be pretty hard to imagine why the guys from 30 Seconds to Mars would ever want to go their separate ways. With all this, this is probably what will happen once they’re done with their current tour.

Given the panic that his previous interviews caused among fans, who are half convinced 30 Seconds to Mars is breaking up, frontman Jared Leto is speaking to MTV News precisely on the issue – and, truth be told, he’s only adding more fuel to the fire.

Once the tour Closer to the Edge wraps up at the end of the year, Leto and his bandmembers will be doing some serious thinking about the future, to see whether to continue to record a new album or, instead, take a breather.

While he’s not saying out loud that the latter option is the most likely of the two, Leto hints this could be the case.

“We’ve been really thinking about the future, and life and opportunities and choices and, really, I think when we’re done with this album cycle, then we’ll be ready to address the future,” the actor and musician says for MTV.

He also underlines that he understands why fans would assume the band would break up at the end of the year. Come to think of it, it’s a pretty strong possibility.

“It’s been such an incredible, insane, crazy ride. It’s been almost two years, all around the world more than a couple times,” Leto says of the album “This Is War” and the promo tour for it.

“This global typhoon of shows and videos and creativity and madness. So, we need a little bit of time – I need a little time to catch my breath,” he adds, letting it slip that a hiatus of some sort might be in the cards for 30 Seconds to Mars.

Speaking of the three nominations the band got for the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards 2011 (for “Hurricane”), Leto notes that it would be amazing if they could go out with such a bang.

“But the nice thing about these video nominations, they certainly would be a great way to say goodbye, wouldn’t they? I mean, winning all three would be a pretty nice way to go out,” he says.
