Kanye West, Lindsay Lohan, Jared Leto, and others talk about LA in short film

30 Seconds to Mars has always favored extended, artsy music videos that play more like short films than as actual music videos, and their latest, for the single “City of Angels,” is no different.

Even better, it also stars some of the most mediated names out there, including Kanye West, Lindsay Lohan, Selena Gomez and Jared Leto himself, alongside unknown entertainers working in Hollywood, in what ultimately plays out like a gorgeous, sad, but heartfelt tribute to Los Angeles.

The stories of these unknown entertainers (unknown compared to the established artists also featured), Superman, Michael Jackson, and Marilyn Monroe lookalikes, are perhaps the most touching because, even if for them LA is the land of broken promises and lost dreams, they still love it.

On a brighter note, Kanye West manages to add a touch of hilarity at one point, speaking of himself along the lines of, “My name is Kanye West, but actually I'm one of the few people whose middle name is ‘mother[expletive]-ing’.”
