Microsoft is getting ready to start the rollout of Windows 10 version 20H2, or October 2020 Update, to devices across the world, but at the same time, the company is yet to announce the general availability of Windows 10 version 2004, also known as May 2020 Update.

In the meantime, the adoption of version 2004 keeps growing, and statistics provided by AdDuplex show that nearly 3 in 10 Windows 10 PCs out there are currently powered by the May update.

More specifically, Windows 10 version 2004 is currently installed on 33.7 percent of all computers running the operating system out there, though Windows 10 version 1909, or the November 2019 Update, continues to be number one with 34.5 percent.

Windows 10 May 2019 Update, or version 1903, continues to be third in the charts but obviously losing ground since more devices are updated to the latest releases. Its current market share of 25.7 percent, and there’s a good chance it’ll continue to decline in the coming months for the very same reason.

Windows Insiders are also an important part of the Windows 10 userbase, as their devices account for 0.7 percent of the Windows 10 ecosystem.

Windows 10 version 20H2 just around the corner

Microsoft has recently announced that Windows 10 version 20H2 is nearing its completion stage, explaining that the final build has been shipped to users in the Windows Insider program.

If everything goes as planned, Windows 10 October 2020 Update should be here in just a few weeks, with the production rollout to once again take place in stages, just like it happened before.

In other words, not everyone will get it on day one, but in waves, so it could take up to several months for the update to land on all devices.
