LG Electronics announced the launch of three notebooks which come equipped with Intel's latest generation of mobile technology, the Centrino. Based on the Santa Rosa platform, the LG laptops feature Intel processors, chipsets and wireless networking cards. The Santa Rosa platform is usually assimilated with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, one of the most powerful mobile CPUs available, an up to date and compliant with the latest WiFi standards LAN card and Intel's TurboMemory that offers high efficiency and computing power.

Another feature of the Intel Santa Rosa mobile computing platform is, according to the news site vrzone, the additional NAND based memory chip that acts as an accelerator in order to cut boot times and increase application savings. As the whole platform is based on the Core 2 Duo processors, it has the ability to perform multi-threaded tasks at a high speed. "With the introduction of Santa Rosa platform, LG has further secured its leadership position in technology. LG's cutting-edge technology and unique designs will satisfy the group of customers who choose to purchase products from an established premium brand like LG," said Howard Lee, Managing Director for LG Electronics Singapore. LG released three notebook models: the R200-G, the R200-Q and the R405-G that are very similar. All three notebooks from LG come with glossy back and white casings and 12.1 or 14.1 LCD screens with a wide aspect format.

The R200-G is based on the Intel Core 2 Duo processor, model T7100 with 2MB of level two of cache memory, a standard clock frequency of 1.8GHz and an 800MHz frontside bus. The display comes in the form of a 12.1 inch widescreen that implements the Fine Bright Technology and can reach up to the 1280x800 resolution. The graphics system is the Intel X3100 that can share up to 358MB of memory, while the storage issues are addressed by a Serial ATA hard disk drive with 160GB. The second LG laptop is the R200-Q that uses the Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 processor, which has 2MB of L2 cache memory, an 800MHz frontside bus and a running frequency of 1.8GHz. The display of the R200-Q is identical with the one found on the R200-G model, just like the storage solution. The Q variant comes with a better graphics card, the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2300, which comes with 128MB of dedicated video memory and HyperMemory support.

The last model, the LG R405-G laptop, comes equipped with an Intel Core 2 Duo T7100 processor and a 14.1 inch wide aspect display that can go as high as 1440x900. This display integrates the Fine Bright Technology, too, while just like the R200-G, the LG R405-G laptop comes with the Intel integrated graphics solution X3100. While the other models are equipped with 160GB hard disk drive, the R405-G only has a 120GB SATA HDD. All three laptops implement the Intel wireless technology that is a must in the case of the Santa Rosa compliant machines as well as Bluetooth support, multimedia card reader with support for XD /SD /MMC /MS /MS Pro. A high definition audio system (24bit definition) is also included on all notebook models.
