Todd Harrell, bassist for the band 3 Doors Down, was arrested for vehicular homicide on Friday night after he was involved in a very serious car crash that claimed the life of one person. He was under the influence, reports say.

Harrell, who was arrested for DUI after another crash last year, was driving at high speed, TMZ reports.

The crash occurred in Nashville, with the driver of the other car being pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

The police report notes that he was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the impact.

However, it was Harrell who caused the crash, when his car clipped the other one, a pickup truck, making the driver lose control. The pickup truck “struck a guardrail, traveled down an embankment and overturned,” the celebrity e-zine says.

As police arrived to the scene, Harrell admitted that he’d been drinking hard cider before getting behind the wheel, but also that he’d taken painkiller Lortab and Xanax.

He “showed signs of impairment during field sobriety tests,” TMZ notes.

“While being booked at the jail, Davidson County Sheriff's deputies say they discovered a plastic bag in Harrell's sock that contained more Xanax pills along with Oxycodone and Oxymorphone pills,” adds the same media outlet.

“Harrell was charged with vehicular homicide and bringing controlled substances into the jail and is being held on $100,000 [€76,558] bond,” TMZ further reports.

For the time being, these are the only details available on the accident.

In a statement on the official webpage of the band 3 Doors Down, the rockers acknowledge the tragedy by sending condolences to the family of the driver of the pickup truck.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Paul Howard Shoulders Jr. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family and friends at this difficult time,” it reads.
