2020 seems to be the year of remakes, and that's not a bad thing at all. Final Fantasy VII Remake, Resident Evil 3 Remake, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 and 2, are just some of the high-profile games that have been launched or are about to be launched this year.

Well, it looks like 2K has one more surprise in store for Mafia fans. A so-called Mafia Trilogy has been recently teased by the company with the promise that more details will be unveiled next week, on May 19. Meanwhile, Microsoft added a listing for a remake of the original Mafia game, but the listing has since been removed. You can find below the description of the game:

Part one of the Mafia crime saga - 1930s, Lost Heaven, IL. Re-made from the ground up, rise through the ranks of the Mafia during the Prohibition era of organized crime. After a run-in with the mob, cab driver Tommy Angelo is thrust into a deadly underworld. Initially uneasy about falling in with the Salieri crime family, Tommy soon finds that the rewards are too big to ignore.”

The remake of Mafia, which is dubbed Mafia: Definitive Edition, was listed for release on August 27 and is developed by Hangar 13, the studio responsible for Mafia 3. Strangely enough, another listing on Microsoft Store suggests Mafia 2 Definitive Edition will be launched as early as May 19.

Unlike the original Mafia that will be more of a remake rather than a remaster, Mafia 2 Definitive Edition will feature all DLC content and some visual upgrades, but that's about it. Still, if the release dates on Microsoft Store are accurate, it's weird to have the second part of the trilogy launched before the first game.

The teaser released by 2K mentions Mafia Trilogy will come to PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store), PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Stadia, but that's about all we know for the moment. Tune in on May 19 for more details on Mafia Trilogy.
