Acclaim has now issued the official press release announcing 2Moons, their upcoming and reportedly highly violent free fantasy MMORPG. The game's official web site has also launched and people can now register for the upcoming beta test. 2Moons is a free fantasy MMORPG that relies on advertising to make money. The involvement of former Shiny founder David Perry has been conformed as the head of the development team.

All advertising is built-in with the user interface and surprisingly, it will also be entirely optional for the player. Perry explains: ?It will be like on television, you get to see a pay-per-view Mike Tyson fight that would normally cost you forty bucks, but you turn on a single image in the bottom right hand corner you get to watch it for free.? The model allows gamers to completely turn off all advertising at no cost to them. In turn, the only incentive is experience and gameplay bonuses to gamers who choose to allow advertising in the interface. Going in depth, David Perry reveals part of the game concept:

?2Moons is a game that focuses on training players to become saviors in a world where any hope for survival was virtually nil. Instead of wading through a lot of heavy back story, the game?s narrative is all about the individual?s journey as they grow to become a level 100+ warrior. And the arcade style fighting system in the game lets you dive right in and go hand to hand with some of the most impressive enemies in a massively multiplayer game yet.?

Many Asian games just get translated and dropped on the American market, but despite its roots within the Korean based GameHI MMORPG called Dekaron, 2Moons wants to have a life of its own. Although the titles share art, engine and some thematic issues, they are in effect two separate designed for specific audiences. David Perry partnered with the original game creator in order to meet this challenge and still keep part of Dekaron?s feeling.
