14 DAY TRIAL // After pretty massive outrage from fans, 2K Games confirms that it's permanently restored the NBA 2K14 servers and online services and that, going forward, it will support its titles for 27 months, not just 18.
NBA 2K14 released back in 2013 and went on to gain critical acclaim for its basketball simulator mechanics, its fun online experiences, not to mention the other modes and mechanics employed by 2K Games in the title.
NBA 2K15 launched last fall and improved in different ways over its predecessor, but many still went back to 2K14 due to their progress and online stats.
NBA 2K14 players got angry this week due the end of online support
Unfortunately for those who still actively play NBA 2K14, the game saw the end of its online support this week, which meant that not only did multiplayer servers go offline but actual single-player save files and other such things were also unavailable.
As you can imagine, this caused massive outrage, mainly because the move didn't get any advance announcement. To be fair, the 18 months of online support were highlighted in the game's manual, but not many fans were aware of that.
2K has restored multiplayer support and extended it to 27 months
Now, all the feedback, pleas, and unpleasant words have reached 2K Games, and the publisher confirms that it's restored online support to NBA 2K14. What's more, future games will be maintained online for a longer period, so that players can enjoy them for a longer while.
"2K has restored the NBA 2K14 servers and all online services. Beginning today, we are extending the support of all NBA 2K servers from 18 to 27 months following each release, giving our players more time to experience and enjoy the highest rated NBA simulation video game franchise. The opinions of our community continue to have a positive impact on our business decisions as we strive to create the best possible experience for all of our fans," 2K says on its website.
As such, at least for 9 more months, until the beginning of 2016, fans can still play NBA 2K14.
