Samsung has announced that is has developed a new memory card - 2GByte MultiMediaCard (MMCmicro), which combines four 4Gbit NAND. This is the fastest, smallest and highest capacity memory card developed only three months after Samsung has announced the 1GByte memory card.

Despite being the smallest memory card (12mmx14mmx1.1mm), the new MMCmicro will provide the highest transmission speed of any removable memory card, transmitting data 3.5 times faster than other cards. It can store 12 hours of mobile video and is fast enough to download three hours of it in less than two minutes. An adapter allows the card to be plugged into any multimedia card slot.

It will come with an adaptor to integrate the new standard in all mobile phones that support a memory card. Other features: no. of chips 5, writing speed 7.12 MB/s, reading speed up to 7.38 MB/s and voltage 1.8V-3.3V.

The new memory card will be available later this year.
