The World Health Organization confirmed infections in China and Pakistan

World Health Organization tests have confirmed the 24th death caused by bird flu in Indonesia. "The latest results from the WHO were received yesterday concerning a man who died at Sulianti Saroso hospital on April 8 or 9", said Ilham Patu, spokesman for the national bird flu team.

Indonesia has confirmed 10 other infection cases where the sufferer has survived. Bird flu was also found at a 21-year-old Chinese male worker employed in Wuhan City in Hubei province.

"The man's source of exposure is under investigation. No poultry outbreaks have been reported in Hubei Province since November 2005. His close contacts have been placed under medical observation", said the United Nations agency.

Pakistan is treating 2 people in critical condition suspected of carrying the H5N1 virus. A 25-year-old and a 4-year-old from the village of Sihala were admitted in the hospital a couple of days ago after symptoms indicating towards bird flu.
