Full HD widescreen should already be available for pre-order

Coming to expand its collection of liquid crystal displays, iiyama revealed a new monitor, one that pairs an IPS panel with LED backlighting, for both clarity and efficiency.

The new monitor from iiyama surfaced on the web a short while ago, showing off its yet-unavailable assets.

The IPS panel is the most obvious of them, since it makes sure that the viewing angles are as wide as can be, more or less.

Specifically, both the horizontal and the vertical angles are of 178 degrees, meaning that users will have to put effort into actually looking at it from a perspective where visibility starts to fade.

Fortunately, owners won't actually bother doing something so unnecessary, unless they want to fool around for fun that is.

Moving on, iiyama utilized LED backlights, which ultimately enabled the power consumption of 23 watts.

For a full HD monitor (native resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels), this is nothing to scoff at, especially when the dynamic contrast ratio is of 5,000,000:1.

Of course, the static contrast ratio is still the good old 1,000:1, but the image will, ultimately, have all the clarity one could ever need even in the darkest of rooms.

The other specifications of the monitors are a response time of 5ms, a typical brightness of 250 cd/m2 (brightness isn't much of a problem as long as the room isn't over-flooded with sunlight) and stereo speakers.

Finally, the 23-inch iiyama X2377HDS, as the display is called, boasts D-Sub, DVI and HDMI inputs, plus a VESA 100 mount, allowing it to be placed on a wall.

It is reported that online stores already have the liquid crystal display up for pre-order in Europe, at €165.37 ($225.66, according to exchange rates).
