Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren has made a case for raising the minimum wage in the United States in a hearing held by the Senate Committee on Health, Education Labor and Pensions.

She appears to be speaking about a recent study either performed or simply discussed by Dr. Arindrajit Dube, who Travelers Today describes as a professor at University of Massachusetts Amherst.

The study reveals that, inflationary rates aside, were we to go back in the 60s and work our way to the present, the minimum wage should be much higher right now. In fact, it should be around $22 (€17) an hour, about $14 (€11) more than the current $7.25 (€5.6).

Warren hints that 1% of the population has ended up with the profits resulting from increased productivity, while workers are awarded the bare minimum.

She speaks about the McDonalds chain, and how they would be able to raise wages to $10 (€7.72) per hour in three years if they added 4 cents to their menus.
