According to the Washington Post, a former D.C. government worker infected with HIV since 1996 was convicted to 21 years of imprisonment for seducing women and teenage girls into having sexual intercourse without telling them about the disease.

Sundiata Basir, 34, who once was the assistant of the deputy mayor, had sexual relationships with at least seven partners. Four of them, including a 15 year old girl, have lately discovered that they were HIV positive.

The defendant didn't try to apologize on Thursday at the D.C. Superior Court. "I'm not going to say anything. Every time I say something, I get another case", he said.

Basir pleaded guilty in July to child sexual abuse, cruelty to children and attempted aggravated assault. Those charges stemmed from relationships with a woman and two teenage girls.

Prosecutors said Basir never warned his partners, although some of them asked him to use a condom.
