14 DAY TRIAL // Two of the three iPhone models that Apple is working on for this year’s generation are the stars of a new leak based on dummy units possibly sourced from supply chain companies.
The versions you see in these photos published by leakster Ben Geskin are the iPhone X Plus and the LCD iPhone, both of which are projected to launch in September alongside a revised 5.8-inch iPhone X.
Theoretically, Apple’s new iPhone lineup will include three different models, as it follows: first, it’s going to be the said upgraded iPhone X; then, Apple will launch a bigger version of the iPhone X, obviously called iPhone X Plus and featuring a 6.5-inch OLED screen; and last, the new product family will also come with a 6.1-inch more affordable iPhone sporting an LCD panel.
These iPhone dummies show that the two bigger models would feature a notch as well, and come with an edge-to-edge design approach similar to the iPhone X. Needless to say, the more affordable version will feature a just a single camera, and not a dual-camera configuration like on the iPhone X and iPhone X Plus, and bezels would be a little bit bigger all around the screen.
Possible delay for cheaper model
The cheaper iPhone will also lack certain functionality like wireless charging, obviously as a cost-saving measure, and it’s believed that aluminum would be used for the frame. The premium configuration will come with a stainless steel frame.
Rumor has it that the lower-cost iPhone would be priced at $699, whereas the base iPhone X could get approximately $100 cheaper as compared to the existing models. Right now, the iPhone X starts at $999 in the United States with 64GB storage.
The unveiling of all three iPhones will take place in September, but the LCD version may hit the shelves approximately one month later due to a mix of production challenges and Apple planning to give the premium models some exclusive time on the market in order to avoid cannibalization.
